Dr. MaakanTaghizadeh fondly known as “Dr. Tag”, was born in Baltimore, MD where he attended Gilman School. He then graduated Cum Laude from James Madison University where he was a Division I wrestler. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at The Ohio State University Medical Center where he was awarded with the prestigious intern of the year award. He returned to Baltimore to complete a fellowship in Breast, Microsurgical, and Aesthetic Surgery at Mercy Medical Center under the renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeons, Drs. Bernard Chang, Brendan Collins, and Craig Vander Kolk.
Dr. Tag recently joined the group of Drs. Grace, Owens, and Kumar at The Maryland Institute of Plastic Surgery in 2014. He is an attending plastic surgeon at Saint Agnes Hospital where he takes part in the education of surgical residents and medical students. He is also on staff at Howard County General Hospital.
Dr. Tag’s areas of expertise include cosmetic surgery of the breast, body, and face.

Breast reconstruction as well as microsurgical breast reconstruction using DIEP and SGAP flaps. Body contouring and skin cancer reconstruction.
He currently lives in Baltimore with his lovely wife, Dr. Jess Wertz, their daughter, Taylor, and dog, Cabo.
